Brood boxes
In California many beekeepers use only one brood box
Hives with only one brood box need to be checked more frequently to prevent overcrowding
- Some bee keepers prefer to have two brood boxes
- Honey boxes
- Brood boxes are below the honey boxes, separated by a queen excluder
- Honey boxes are stacked on top of brood boxes
- A beekeeper may have one, two, three, or more honey boxes stacked on top of their brood boxes.
