Unfortunately lots of LMSs and authoring tools have a very limited reading and implantation of a SCO
This in turn limits what can be done by course creators.
- Specifically many developers have decided that a SCO must be a single page of content.
- By defining a SCO as a page, course creators are forced to chunk their content down to a page.
- This creates a terrible experience for the learner
- It forces the learner to go from SCO to SCO when they move from page to page.
- When an LMS handles delivery it can slow down the experience
Every time a page is requested the LMS needs to close the current page and launch the next page
- Some LMS can take up to 20 seconds to deliver a SCO
