4.6 Basics of Copyright Law
To add graphics to a course many course creators may use a clip art gallery, hire an artist, or use pictures taken with a digital camera.
  1. Any graphic on a company web site is legally owned by that company. Just because it is easy to download a graphic to your desktop does not mean you can legally use that graphic.
  2. Most employees sign a waiver when they are hired that states any materials they create is owned by the company. Please check with your human resources or legal department to assure this waiver is in place.
  3. When using an outside artist or clip art gallery, check your legal agreement to assure you have the right to place these graphics on your web site.
It's True! It's True! If you take a pictures of a person and you want to use this image in your course, you will need to have them sign a waiver allowing you to use their image.
