3.11 Appearance basics
Some basics when creating templates for smartphones include:
  1. Use small or unobtrusive graphics and logos
  1. Avoid background graphics.
    1. The end users ambient light will vary depending on whether they are indoors or outdoors.
    1. Background graphics can make it impossible for learners to read the screen in some light.
  1. Minimize the navigation elements.
    1. Graphic navigation icons should be simple and clear.
    1. Since someone will be touching the graphic with their finger the graphic should be twice the size of a computer navigation element.
  1. When you build your courses using good web technology, the course should work effectively.
    1. Course that follows W3C recommendations such as HTML and relative positioning (page resizes based on the screen size).
    1. Avoid absolute positioning.
    1. If you are already using a tool, confirm that it works on mobile devices. If the vendor does not claim it works on mobile devices - it does not work on mobile devices.
  1. Frames work on mobile devices
    1. Most mobile device browsers handle frames by displaying additional frames below the main content.
