4.10 Graphics and Audio - what doesn't work
Just because you can create audio and graphics does not mean they are effective!
  1. Automatic simulations, movies, and Power Point to Flash
    1. The average person will stay on a movie for two minutes. If you have a 10 minute movie you will need to break it into five - two minute segments.
    1. Never have an automatic simulation, movie or presentation go longer then 5 minutes.
  1. Audio
    1. People become frustrated when the audio they are listening to is different then the words on the screen.
    1. People stop paying attention to an elearning class if the words on the screen are being read to them.
  1. Text
    1. Flying bullets and drop down text works in a Power Point presentation
    1. Learners read much faster then we speak. Learners HATE courses where the need to wait for the text to fly in or drop down.
It's True! It's True! Be careful when using Power Point to flash presentations. Learners tune out somewhere between 2 to 5 minutes into the presentation.
