4.7 Guidelines for Developing Graphics
Even if you have access to a clip art gallery, there are many times when you may need to create a graphic specific to your needs.
  1. So that graphics fit comfortably in most browser windows the graphic should be 250 pixels by 250 pixels. Graphics larger then 300 by 300 pixels should be displayed in the center of the page.
  2. Artwork should generally be saved as a GIF file (256 colors or fewer). It is important to minimize file size and therefore transmission time. Delays in downloading pages can be distracting for the student.
  3. Digital pictures from a digital camera are very large (high resolution, 1,000 x 1000 pixel). Since the web does not display full resolution, it is best to lower the resolution and save digital images in a smaller size.
It's True! It's True! Pictures are typically saved in a JPEG format while graphics are saved in a GIF format.
